In order to continue the great work, we are doing, we need a Development Director- Major Gifts to join our amazing team!

 

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Working under the direction of the CEO and , the Development Director – Major Gifts (DD) plays a key and integral role in the success of Houses For Warriors’ fund development efforts; specifically, through ongoing and proactive relationship management, strategic communications planning, gifts cultivation and solicitation activity with an assigned caseload of major donors In this role, the DD will identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward major gift donors acting as the primary contact between Houses For Warriors and the assigned caseload, with an emphasis on securing gifts of $25,000 and higher, increasing overall major gifts to Houses For Warriors while retaining and strengthening existing giving. An ability to empathize with donors and clearly communicate our organization’s mission is key.

The DD must be a team player who also works well independently, has strong leadership abilities and an entrepreneurial spirit, possesses initiative, has an unparalleled attention to detail, and excels in being creative, dependable, flexible, and resourceful. The DD will work on-site at the Denver office with the CEO and team to design, develop and implement Houses For Warriors’ annual major gift plan. The DD will be expected to energize team members, persuade prospects, and meet annual fundraising objectives. This position works closely with program managers, the Chief of Development and CEO to align major gifts efforts with the Houses For Warriors’ strategic plan and mission. The DD’s primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Establish, manage, and fulfill a caseload communications plan, including individual fundraising goals and personalized strategies, to effectively steward, educate, cultivate, and solicit gifts from major donors each fiscal year, with an emphasis on gifts of $25,000 and higher
  • Manage a minimum caseload of 150 assigned major donors and maintain and seek to engage with a small additional prospective donor “watch list” as assigned, following the agreed-upon communications plan that is specific to each donor and prospect
  • Local and national travel as necessary, establishing and maintaining excellent donor relations, providing written proposals to major gift prospects as needed, and including Houses For Warriors leadership as appropriate
  • Work in collaboration with program, finance, development, education/communications, and administrative support staff to develop a portfolio of giving opportunities (cases for support) that documents funding needs in terms of real program costs, how dollars impact our warriors and their personal development, outcomes being achieved, shortfalls and exciting mission advancement opportunities; presenting these opportunities to donors to effectively match donor interests with Houses For Warriors’ advancement needs
  • Manage all office systems related to DD duties, donor files, tracking spreadsheets, correspondence, and gift acknowledgments, etc., in keeping with department policies and procedures; this includes documenting interactions and contacts with donors in the Houses For Warriors’ donor database
  • Ensure excellent customer service is provided to donors through accessibility to staff and leadership (as granted), timely responsiveness, quality in all interactions and personalized communications
  • Assist the development team in customizing proposals to secure new business
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • 5-years, minimum, demonstrated experience in non-profit fundraising; 3+ years in major gift and corporate solicitation strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or a related field
  • Demonstrated ability to secure individual major gifts of $25,000+
  • Capital Campaign Experience
  • Demonstrated-record of personally identifying, cultivating, and soliciting new individual donors and corporate partners
  • Record of measurable results in organizing and implementing development events and related activities
  • Comfortable using a donor database, prospect research and other wealth screening tools to aid in the moves management process
  • Experience with Blackbaud products preferred
  • Experience writing proposals
  • Planned Giving experience
  • Understanding of Military Service organizations (MSO) and Veteran Service organizations (VSO)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A valid driver’s license required

Marketing Director

We are looking for an experienced Marketing Manager to develop and manage marketing programs in specific channels, support business objectives, lead acquisition, foster customer retention, execute business development, provide sales support, and advance brand building.

 

Responsibilities for Marketing Manager

Build marketing programs to support specific marketing objectives across different channels and segments in support of our overall strategic marketing plan

Continue to develop and update WordPress site as the organization advances

Market through various channels and segment databases working with large data sets

 Develop business cases for marketing programs at the proposal stage and make recommendations on marketing tactics

Evaluate the impact of inbound marketing programs in achieving their stated objectives, including impact on lead flow, LTV and retention

Propose and manage marketing research projects to generate consumer insights in support of improved marketing strategy and communications

Partner with creative teams, other internal stakeholders, and external agencies and vendors

Lead the execution of marketing programs from start to finish, driving collaboration with the stakeholders and leveraging the right internal processes

Qualifications for Marketing Manager

Experience building complex marketing programs and reporting on the results

Exposure to digital and direct response marketing Competence as a creative writer with an eye for great emails and landing pages

We’re looking for someone with 4+ years of experience in marketing, has a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or Business or similar, and is familiar with the following software/tools:

You will be working closely with our Chief Advancement Officer and Executive Directors.

The Marketing director is part of the business development department. The business development department is responsible for achieving targeted revenue, maximizing business opportunities and for the ongoing development and growth of sales across the organization.

You work with all department heads to ensure the effective management of sponsor/partner events and project marketing activity. The department is also responsible for all advertising agreements – both the acquisition of new and retention of existing advertisers.

The business development executives will work with the sponsorship director to ensure the effective management of all sales activity. The role has an external focus, as it will be one of the main points of contact for sponsors and partners; however, it also has an internal focus, making sure that agreements are implemented and managed within the HFW business operation.

 

General

  • Play a key part in the achievement of the business vision, goals and objectives, formulating departmental strategic action plans.
  • Monitor and evaluate the departmental plan, ensuring it is adjusted as appropriate and achieved.

  • Distribute key aspects of sponsor/partner marketing agreements to relevant staff and ensure that managers and staff are informed, and understand and carry out their key responsibilities.
  • Keep accurate files and records of all sponsor/partner contracts and negotiations.
  • Monitor department budgets and financial activity, providing reports as appropriate to the running of the business and carrying out cost benefit analysis on departmental work

Community Relations Manager

Reporting to the Chief Advancement Officer (CAO), the Community Relations Manager manages relationships with the (Company) Community stakeholders including volunteers, community service organizations and third-party fundraising hosts to inspire and assist them in maximizing their community awareness and fundraising results.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide professional “first contact” with event participants and donors by providing exemplary customer service and fielding incoming inquiries related to registration of community fundraising and event logistics
  • Ensure communications throughout the duration of registered events, including approval of ad/marketing submissions (flyers, posters, etc.)
  • Implement follow up communications, post-event to wrap up, donation, accounting and final close-out of event including tracking all donations in database
  • Support and cultivate relationships with event hosts, participants, volunteers, and stakeholders
  • Update and maintain database management software for event participants and donors to ensure data integrity
  • Provide reports, when necessary, on information regarding community events
  • Coordinate, with Community Relations Coordinator, the attendance of volunteer ambassadors and/or puppy raisers at events requiring representation by providing all detailed information necessary for scheduling
  • Execute dog sponsorship communications and maintain those dog sponsor relationships throughout the process that are attained through a Community Event/fundraiser
  • Work with Community Relations Coordinator to establish and manage a portfolio of major community donors
  • Manage all funding applications and reporting for community service organizations wishing to provide funding to (The Company) , $5,000 or less

Role and Responsibilities

The job of the Grant Specialist is to coordinate and oversee the grant application and management process including: identification of potential new funding sources, development of funding resources for existing and proposed programs and/or services, writing grants, developing budgets, and processing, monitoring and coordinating required report evaluations on existing grant.

Essential Functions

  • (35%) Developing and writing grant proposals to foundations and other grant-making organizations, persuasively communicating the organization’s mission and programs to potential funders.
  • (5%) Assembling and submitting grant requests, including letters, proposals, budgets, and presentations.
  • (10%) Establishing and maintaining personal contact and relationships with foundation contacts and program officers.
  • (10%) Ensuring prompt, personal acknowledgement of foundation gifts.
  • (10%) Maintaining a calendar to ensure timely submission of letters of inquiry, proposal deadlines, and reports.
  • (25%) Conducting prospect research.
  • (5%) Prioritizing projects to keep multiple projects moving in a timely manner, meet deadlines and manage supplemental material required for proposals.

Volunteer Program Manager

Role and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Development Director the position of the Volunteer Program Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of Houses For Warriors volunteer program to support and cultivate the development, stewardship, and engagement of our local community, corporate, and veteran organizations with their events.

  • Responsible for selecting, training, managing, and retaining the volunteer staff
  • Manage and schedule volunteer ambassadors to attend local events
  • Support and cultivate relationships with volunteers
  • Update and maintain Volunteer Matters database management system
  • Create, update, and maintain volunteer program position descriptions
  • Prepare and share the monthly volunteer newsletter through Constant Contact
  • Schedule and manage the attendance of volunteer ambassadors and/or puppy raisers at events requiring representation by providing all detailed information necessary for scheduling
  • Create and implement a rewards program for dedicated volunteers
  • Work with HFW’s points of contact in Denver, Colorado to ensure volunteer coverage as needed
  • Work with Community Relations Manager to ensure coordination and attendance of volunteers at various third- party community fundraising and vendor events
  • Provide reports, when necessary, on information regarding volunteer activities at events including post-event follow up and tracking volunteer hours
  • Manage volunteer telethon phone banks for fundraising
